NSDL announces the Top Three DPs in 1998

As a means to encourage retail participation in the depository, the Board of Directors of NSDL, at their meeting held in May 1998, had announced a scheme of providing incentives to the DPs who attract the retail segment.

It was decided that the performance of DPs up to December 31, 1998 would be judged in the area of retail business with a view to offer incentives to them. The following parameters were used for judging the performance of DPs

  • Number of retail accounts opened by the DPs.
  • Number of centres from which the DP is offering services to retail investors.
  • Total demat achieved through retail accounts.
  • Trading in demat form in the retail accounts.
  • Feedback about quality of service from retail investors.
  • Innovations used for attracting retail investors.

Accordingly, the following DPs were ranked based on their performance in 1998 and the incentives offered to them were :

Integrated Advisory Services Limited 1 Remission in fees payable to NSDL to the tune of Rs. 2 lakh
Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited 2 Remission in fees payable to NSDL to the tune of Rs. 1.5 lakh
Karvy Consultants Limited 3 Remission in fees payable to NSDL to the tune of Rs. 1 lakh
