In our relentless pursuit to drive transformative change in the deserving less privileged and marginalized communities, National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) has been carrying on various socio-economic developmental projects/programs that have meaningful yet sustainable impact on the deserving lives. The Company undertakes need based and impact driven CSR projects/programs in line with its CSR policy and thematic areas.
The CSR Action Plan consisting need based projects are recommended and approved by the CSR Committee and the Board of NSDL. NSDL strives to be one of the most active organizations in terms of social contribution in the depository segment in India hence, the CSR is one of the key avenues to remain connected to the community and be a responsible business by aligning our growth with the development of the society at large. At NSDL, we believe in constant engagement with the communities to understand the need and accordingly designing and delivering the project. We adopt a participatory multi-stakeholder approach that involves extensive engagement with all key stakeholders.
The below mentioned CSR projects are recommended and approved by the Governing Board of NSDL. It is also recommended that in case of any unspent funds out of proposed CSR programs/projects, the CSR Committee shall recommend the alternate programs/projects/activities in pursuance to CSR policy to be undertaken to utilize such unspent funds. The Board may consider and approve such alternative programs/projects/initiatives in a particular FY, if the same are complying with the CSR policy and rules.
Project Details
NSDL provides free bed-side Leukocyte Filters and yearly DXA Scan and Cardiac & Liver T2* MRI investigations to underprivileged Thalassemia patients. The use of bed-side Leukocyte Filters helps in reducing Febrile Reaction and thereby decreases allergic reactions during blood transfusions. Moreover, NSDL has been supporting DXA Scan and Cardiac & Liver T2* MRI tests for underprivileged Thalassemia patients to diagnose life threatening risks of iron overload on critical organs which may cause damage to body parts like the heart, liver, pituitary and pancreas during blood transfusions. In current FY, NSDL and its subsidiaries to benefit around 450 Thalassemia patients who belong to poor socio-economic background in Mumbai and suburban areas.

Project Details
NSDL has been organizing free comprehensive eye care camps for underprivileged people who are engaged in unorganized occupations/sectors including agriculture. In last three years, NSDL has conducted eye care programs for 1500+ beneficiaries who belong to poor socio-economic background and engaged in unorganized sectors/occupations. Post eye screening, the beneficiaries are provided with spectacles for daily occupational activities based on their need and diagnosis.
In FY 2024-25, NSDL shall execute the comprehensive eye care project in the identified districts of Tamil Nadu namely, Chennai, Salem, Nagapattinam, Chengalpattu, Karur, Kanchipuram, Dharmapuri, Vilupuram, Krishnagiri, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, Viruthunagar, Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Nilgiris, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Dindigul, Madurai, Mayiladuthurai, Trichirappalli, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Thanjavur, Thiruvallur, etc. The community camps shall be organized in the villages/towns/areas within in and around these locations. The project includes thorough visual task analysis of the beneficiaries followed by comprehensive eye examination and spectacle distribution. NSDL to execute the project in association with Medical Research Foundation (MRF). Further, MRF shall implement the project through its clinical unit named as ‘Sankara Nethralaya’ which is based out of Chennai.
Project Objective
The objective is to conduct comprehensive eye check-up for underprivileged community people and thereby making quality eye care services accessible and available for all.
Project Beneficiaries
Under this project, NSDL shall serve the marginalized community people engaged in unorganized occupation/sector such as sculptors, hair dressers, drivers, welders, fishermen, weavers, tailors, jewellery makers, salt-pan workers, farmers and people engaged in allied agricultural sectors, etc. Around 950+ beneficiaries to be impacted in current FY.
Project Details
With a view to enhance school enrolment, retention and improvement in classroom attendance of students as well as improving the nutritional status of the malnourished students, the Government of India launched the National Programme of Nutritional Support to Primary Education (NP-NSPE) popularly known as Mid-Day Meal programme in 1995. The major objective of mid-day meal program is to make nutritious food to students leading to better health status and thereby to enhance the enrolment of students in schools and encouraging them to attend school more regularly and help them concentrate on classroom activities. Since 2021, NSDL in association with Akshaya Patra Foundation has been providing nutritious mid-day-meals to the students in government schools. Mid-day-meals have played a pivotal role in curbing the drop-out ratio and enhancing classroom attendance in the schools as these meals are the only nutritious food that students get in a day.
In current FY, NSDL in association with Akshaya Patra Foundation shall be serving around 304920 mid-day-meals to around 1540 students in identified government schools in Thane, Ahmedabad and Gorakhpur.
With this initiative, we strive to promote education as well as ensure nutrition for the school students.

To develop grasping prowess of students by improving the nutrition level, to enhance the enrolment of students in schools and encouraging needy students, belonging to disadvantaged sections, to attend school more regularly and help them concentrate on classroom activities.

The school going students from government schools to be covered under this project. The concentration is majorly from lower socio-economic background, underprivileged and disadvantaged students from marginalized section of the society where mid-day-meal are their only source of meal in a day which supports them with required nutrients for healthy growth. NSDL shall be catering to approx. 26 schools in Thane, Ahmedabad and Gorakhpur covering around 1540 students.
Project Details
Health care system is one of the basic requirements of every community. Most of the communities in our country, till date, are with poor health infrastructure. The Mobile medical unit is gradually proving to be instrumental in addressing the needs of rural, tribal and slum areas, particularly for low-income and marginalized populations. MMU has proven to be a successful model for providing primary health care services to the underprivileged communities. It envisages the benefit of the poor communities by providing immediate health check-ups and medical treatment.
NSDL had launched Project Sanjeevani- Mobile Medical Unit (also known as Clinic on Wheels) to provide primary healthcare services including preventive, diagnostic and curative care services in the rural, tribal, semi-urban and urban slum areas/communities in India. The Mobile Medical Units are equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities such as portable Microscopes, ECG, Gastro fibro scope, autoclaves, stretchers, laboratory facility and other essential diagnostic accessories. Besides this, MMU is accompanied by a team consisting of doctor, lab technician, pharmacist and driver cum health assistant. Project Sanjeevani is being executed in association with SBI Foundation. Through Project Sanjeevani, NSDL provides free of cost primary health care services to the needy people at their doorstep. It is our endeavour to serve the deserving communities/areas in rural, tribal and slums who are deprived of basic healthcare services.
In last two years, NSDL had deployed 5 MMUs in various locations namely, Mumbai, Thane, Baksa-Tamulpur, Chandauli and Gorakhpur. These MMU are serving the vulnerable communities by offering free of cost primary healthcare services to less privileged beneficiaries.
In the FY 2024-25, the services of 5 MMUs shall be further extended in the identified communities. Moreover, NSDL shall also conduct specialized community health camps as per community needs and shall also provide referral services to the patients with critical illness. Various awareness sessions on hygiene & sanitation and waste management are conducted in the communities. The services are delivered as per the community health profiling and need assessment done in the targeted communities.
Project Objective
To Provide Primary, Preventive, Diagnostic, Curative and Referral Health Services at the doorstep of the people in the un-served/underserved areas of the country.
To co-ordinate with the District Health Systems to achieve improvements in SDGs like to ensure healthy lives; to reduce inequality; to improve life expectancy, etc.
Project Beneficiaries
Through project Sanjeevani, NSDL to serve the needy population from urban slums, semi-urban areas, rural & tribal pockets in the targeted locations in India. Approx. 12,000 beneficiaries (i.e. 8000 direct beneficiaries and 4000 indirect beneficiaries, being the family members) are expected to be served in each targeted location through each MMU in a year.
Project Details
Emergency response services on road are one of the most needed and critical services in India. In order to provide timely health services to the road accident victims, NSDL has initiated Project Sanjeevani Nirantar Seva in association with SBI Foundation. Under this project, NSDL shall be deploying advanced life support ambulances on major highways in Maharashtra namely, Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Samruddhi Highway. The ambulances are designed as per National Ambulance Code and shall be specially deployed in the most accident-prone zones of the highways.
The advanced life support ambulance units are designed to provide emergency medical services rather than just transferring the victim/patients to nearest hospital. The unit is equipped with advanced medical equipment and tools with a team of expert medical practitioners to provide emergency medical services to the road accident victims during the first few hours (known as Golden Hours) and during platinum 10 minutes until the victim is transferred to nearest hospital/healthcare centre. The ambulances shall serve 4 victims in one go during critical times post accidents. Besides this, the ambulance will be equipped with fire safety and disaster management measures to help the team to deal with the exigencies. Moreover, the ambulance units shall also contain the first aid kits which will provide on-site emergency first aid to the injured people. This makes it dual functionality high impact ambulances. The project also encompasses primary healthcare services and generic healthcare services to local commuters/travellers.
NSDL and SBI Foundation works in close collaboration with Maharashtra State Highway Traffic Police for facilitation of hospitals for quick response and emergency treatment services. The services are carried out free of cost.

Program Details
NSDL has been conducting various skill development projects especially in BFSI sector for the youth from marginalized communities. Post training, the youth are provided with employment or self-employment opportunities for livelihood generation. The deserving youth are identified and trained on sector specific skills depending upon their need and inclination. The skill development initiatives are carried out under NSDL’s flagship project, ‘Artha SAMARTH’. The sector specific training curriculum designed as per industry demand is being used for imparting training to deserving candidates from poor socio-economic background.
For current FY 2024-25, NSDL in association with Tata Community Initiatives Trust (TCIT) shall train the underserved youth from marginalized communities on BFSI as well as other sectors such as healthcare, retail, automobile, etc. The candidates shall be trained on livelihood-linked job roles such as General Duty Assistant-Asst. to Nurse (Healthcare Sector), Assistant Electrician (Construction Sector), Retail Sales Associate (Retail sector) and Full Stack Developers (IT Sector).
The training program includes a classroom training followed by OJT/internship as per the course demand. Additionally, there is a specialized training on soft skills and digital skills. The program includes various phases such as beneficiaries’ mobilization, counselling, training, assessment, certification, livelihood linkages, etc. Post training, the candidates shall be provided with employment or self-employment opportunities.
Program Objective
To Create highly skilled & professional workforce to serve Industry demands for employment of a thriving industry locally and to transform youth into an employee/ entrepreneur through behavioural change, knowledge acquisition and skill development.
Program Beneficiaries
NSDL shall be serving the candidates between age group of 18 to 35 years with a special focus on underserved youth. Around 140 candidates shall be trained on sector specific job roles.
Program Details
NSDL endeavours to promote education amongst less-privileged students by creating effective learning environment for them. Previously, NSDL has undertaken likewise programs such as setting up libraries, e-learning classrooms, basic infra development, setting up Mini Science Centres, etc. to facilitate effective and interactive learning for the students.
In FY 2024-25, NSDL shall refurbish few classrooms by providing benches in the identified school in Mumbai.

The objective of the project is to promote quality education for the less-privileged and thereby support the educational eco-system.
Program Beneficiaries
The classroom benches shall be provided for secondary and higher secondary standards of AES High School, Wadala, Mumbai which is catering to educational needs of the students from poor socio-economic background.
Project Details
This project endeavours to bridge the gap between bright students and the right education by providing financial support in the form of scholarships. Through this project, NSDL intends to provide financial assistance to deserving bright students who lack adequate financial resources to cope with their academic studies. For project execution, NSDL has associated with Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) and Vidyasaarathi (Protean e-Governance initiative). The meritorious students who fulfil eligibility criteria are awarded with scholarship in various academic categories such as secondary, higher secondary, under graduation, post-graduation, etc.
Project Objective
NSDL SHIKSHA SAHYOG is an educational scholarship project initiated with the aim to support underprivileged bright students who lack adequate financial resources to cope with their academic studies. A lot of capable students often fail to fulfil their dreams for studies due to poor financial conditions. The need for scholarships is compelling and critical for our students more than ever before and hence, NSDL provides need based scholarship support on meritorious basis to the deserving bright students in various scholarship categories.
Project Beneficiaries
In FY 2024-25, it is expected to serve approx. 160 meritorious students from poor financial backgrounds. The deserving students shall be identified and shortlisted as per scholarship categories based on eligibility criteria. The scholarships shall be awarded to deserving students in different categories such as 8th to 12th STD, Undergraduate, Post Graduate students who are shortlisted as per the eligibility criteria. The needy students who fall under respective academic categories shall be awarded with the scholarship provided they fulfil the project eligibility criteria.
