NSDL Update - News - October 2013

In order to facilitate transactions in Mutual Fund units through stock exchange platform and to encourage investors to hold Mutual Fund units in dematerialised form, NSDL has decided to continue not to charge any fee to Participants in respect of transactions in mutual fund units held in the depository system till March 31, 2014.

NSDL has informed all its Participants that Inter-Connected Stock Exchange of India Limited (DP ID IN001086), a Participant of NSDL, has informed NSDL about their decision to discontinue depository operations.

  • NCDO/NISM training / certification programmes for Participants

To facilitate officials of Participants to prepare and appear for NISM-Series VI Depository Operations Certification Examination (DOCE), NSDL conducted eight such training programmes in September 2013 at Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai,New Delhi, Noida and Pune which were attended by 274 officials of various Participants.

  • CPE Training Programme for Participants

NSDL, an approved NISM Accreditated Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Provider offers CPE training programmes for eligible associated persons of Participants. In September 2013, NSDL conducted four such training programmes at various locations viz., Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai which were attended by 166 officials of Participants.

  • KYC Training Programme for Participants

In September 2013, NSDL conducted three 'KYC requirements for Account Opening' training programmes at various locations viz., Chandigarh, Kolkata and Ludhiana which were attended by 83 officials of Participants. The program focuses on latest developments viz., procedure for opening various depository accounts, BSDA, RGESS, etc., to facilitate efficient functioning of depository operations of Participants.

  • Investor Depository Meets (IDMs): NSDL interacts with investors throughout the country through a series of 'Investor Depository Meets'. These programs are organised to spread awareness amongst the accountholders and others about the new facilities introduced by NSDL, the safety features and precautions to be taken by accountholders while operating in the depository environment. During September 2013, NSDL organised 11 IDMs at Karad and Solapur in Maharashtra, Silvassa in Gujarat, Baripada, Balasore and Cuttack in Orissa Haridwar and Dehradun in Uttarakhand, Dindigul, Karaikudi and Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu which were attended by 526 investors.
  • Participation in events conducted by Institutions: In September 2013, NSDL sponsored a programme titled 'Skoch Summit 2013' which was organised by Skoch Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. (Skoch) at Delhi. Hon'ble Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, Dr. C. Rangarajan, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations, Mr. Sam Pitroda, Hon'ble Member, Planning Commission, Mr. Arun Maira and other such eminent delegates addressed the officials on various subject matters attending the Summit. This programme was attended by around 400 officials.
  • oint Awareness Programmes with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) & National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE):In order to reach out to masses spread across the country and to apprise them about the facilities available in NSDL depository system, NSDL participated in Joint Awareness Programme with SEBI & NSE organized by NSE in September 2013 at National Institute of Technology, Silchar, Cachar in Assam which was attended by around 245 students and faculties.
  • Training Programme organized by Institutions: In September 2013, NSDL conducted four training programmes viz., Mithibai College, Mumbai, Balasore College of Engineering and Technology, Sergarh, Balasore, Agni School of Business Excellence, Dindigul and A.R School of Business, Dindigul for around 357 students and faculties. Various aspects on Depository related services were addressed to students attending these programmes.

NSDL Brand Ambassador:

  • NSDL had recently launched a new initiative called "NSDL Brand Ambassador (NSDL BA)" for student community education and to popularize demat products and related concepts amongst colleges. In September 2013, NSDL conducted "NSDL Brand Ambassador Contest" for students of Mithibai College, Mumbai. Around 76 students particpated in this Brand Ambassadorship program. Mr. Manan Vora and Ms. Rajshree Kapur from Mithibai College were selected as NSDL Brand Ambassadors after screening them through various rounds of this contest.
